1932. Novellist Irmgard Keun is a star. Shortly thereafter the NSDAP comes to power in Germany. Keun’s works are confiscated, she is banned from publishing. After years living in poverty she goes into exile. Thirty years without writing, six of them in psychiatry as a severe alcoholic. Shortly before her death, her literary work is rediscovered. What becomes of people whose lives are radically changed by violence?
